The Restaurantless Chef

I am married to a Restaurantless Chef. My name is Raquel Vida Roberts. My Husband was fired after helping a restaurant open it's doors. Life up until now was a bit of scrambled egg. Nothing was exactly as it should be.

My long time friend from High School came over to visit the family yesterday and I have to say, it was a pleasant visit amoung all the plans to create and operate a new Business my Husband has created called, "R&R Operations."

Today we made our first batch of cookie dough and baked a few cookies to inspire our moving forward toward success in our building of our business. It was quite the inspiration needed to get our wheels turning in the right direction.

We spent the majority of the day gathering together our recipes and my Husband began the number side of pricing everything out whole we listened to worship music. We are a pretty good team my Husband and I.

I couldn't have thought that all this happened in order to push us straight into where it was that we were supposed to be. It was like we were pushed right into the deep end just so we could swim, go after our dreams. Life is funny that way, sometimes you just need a shove in the right direction, or push.

 Our Restaurantless Chef life today

It has been hard. Very, very, hard. It has been a long month and a hard place to be in when you can't eat for lack of money to help pay for Dental work to be completed. I'm fairly familiar with this road of having the inability to eat until there is money to afford the cost of Dental care, the story of my Life.

My Husband just got fired. And that was fun. In many ways we were both ready for a change. We were planning ahead for the future in the meantime. It was never the dream job but it was a something that helped us pay the bill's in the meantime until we could make our next life change.

It all happened so fast. First we were enjoying a meal where he was working and it was beautiful. The next we were in a Hospital room waiting for our 3rd son to be born all while having my husband's boss call to discuss business, completely not asked for but I figured, it was to help a friend out with his business.

The Restaurant world is an amazing world to be apart of. It also has it's unknown and unseen troubles. Before we knew it my Husband was fired after having given so much of his time to help the Restaurant open, even working from home to create new recipes without pay to start.

So now here we are. Me unable to eat a good meal, my husband out of a job and living off what we have left and my Husband's last pay check.

The Chef world can be magical and romantic from the person looking from the outside in. But from where I stand, it is work and not everyone you work with is an honest person. But work is good. Work is a good gift to have in life, it means you know what it means to earn the stuff on your back, called clothes.

I've always wanted to be a blogger and I've always wanted to do a lot with my life. I always thought I would begin my life's journey while my Husband's dream job was taking off. Or whenever things were happening.

I'm not sure I'm doing this blog or starting a YouTube Channel when things are truly amazing. But I am taking a step of faith in the right direction. I'm working it all out.

I love to sing and to share God's love and inspire and encourage you to live life to the fullest and so, I'm going to do that. I also love to bake. Right now we don't have much but in all we are also blessed and watching God's hand move in our life as we take steps of Faith towards our dream.

While we are in this season of totally relying on God in the deep end of this big ocean that we are in no matter how frustrating it may be, in the end we will have been glad that we learned what it was to give God the position in our home as the provider and not our friends and family or our wallets, just God.

There is always something positive to learn about what God is doing in the Desert. Join us on our journey as we take this walk of Faith towards buying our first food truck from having nothing that we should be so successful with it to watching what God does. I think it will be a beautiful story. And guess what? If your story is like ours God can bring you to a new place in your story as well. Please send me your stories. We are here to pray with you and for you.

We want to watch your story unfold too. We believe God can provide where there doesn't seem to be away. But there is.
